As a data engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, product managers, and software engineers, to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet the needs of our business. **Key Responsibilities** * Collect and process large, complex datasets that meet non-functional and functional business requirements * Identify, design, and implement process improvements, including re-designing infrastructure for greater flexibility, improving data delivery, and automating manual processes * Build required frameworks for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies * Develop scientific tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing valuable insights into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and customer acquisition * Work with partners, including data, product, item, and chief groups, to help with data-related technical issues * Create or modify hardware and technology to serve customer needs * Perform other work duties as directed by Representative's Chiefs **Essential Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field * 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems * Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data lakes * Experience with AWS and SQL technologies, including Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and Amazon Glue * Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and SQL * Experience with data visualization tools, including Tableau and Power BI * Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams **Preferred Qualifications** * Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field * 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems * Experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure * Strong knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence principles, including natural language processing and computer vision * Experience with data governance and data quality principles, including data validation and data cleansing * Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams **Skills and Competencies** * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify complex issues and develop effective solutions * Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams * Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and SQL * Experience with data visualization tools, including Tableau and Power BI * Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data lakes * Experience with AWS and SQL technologies, including Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and Amazon Glue * Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a data engineer at Southwest Airlines, you will have the opportunity to work on complex data-related projects and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that meet the needs of our business.
