Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Dock Worker – Remote Online Customer Service Representative to join our team at FedEx Freight. As a key member of our dock operations team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to freight handling, including loading and unloading trailers, verifying documentation, and assisting customers with freight and documentation. This is a part-time remote position, and you will be required to work independently and as part of a team to ensure the efficient and safe movement of freight.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Freight Handling: Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
 - Documentation Verification: Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system.
 - Freight Securing: Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope).
 - Damage Repair: Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
 - Documentation and Reporting: Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
 - Customer Assistance: Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
 - Hostling Duties: Perform hostling duties if required.
 - Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
 - Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required.
 
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
 - Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
 - Experience: Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred.
 - Math Skills: Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
 - Communication Skills: Basic written and verbal communication skills.
 - Physical Abilities: Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
 - Work Environment: Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift.
 - Teamwork: Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
 - Previous Experience: Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.
 
Working Conditions
This position requires working in a dock environment, with exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary due to operational need, and frequent contact with service center personnel is required in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
