Job Overview and Responsibilities
We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join our Technical Operations team in Hawaii. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the management of client engine fleets operating under maintenance agreements with Delta Technical Operations. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Approving client operating metrics (derate usage, flight hour to cycle ratio, etc.) and providing concurrence to engine removals in collaboration with Engine Technical Services/Propulsion Engineering
 - Collaborating with Engine Technical Services to monitor client fleet for adverse engine health trends and identifying intervention opportunities to maximize engine time on wing (e.g., Engine Wash and predictive part alerting)
 - Monitoring engine performance metrics and providing reporting to DTO management, identifying potential business risk drivers and mitigation strategies
 - Engaging with item OEM and maintaining visibility of industry trends, service bulletins (on and off wing) and driving implementation of beneficial carries influence
 - Maintaining a forward-looking year engine removal plan for program engines, including scheduled and unscheduled removal drivers (e.g., MPD borescopes) and communicating plan risks or operational impacts to MRO and Finance teams
 - Providing workscope control oversight to program engines and reviewing/updating the client-specific Workscope Planning Guide based on shop findings and fleet performance
 - Collaborating with Delta's engine support IPTs to identify program improvement opportunities and risk, including repair opportunities and scrap recovery
 - Benchmarking program engine finish off assessment performance against DL and industry experience, mitigating adverse trends and promoting workscope maintenance levels to client operation
 - Maintaining compliance with applicable FAA, OSHA, and EPA regulations and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) related to the development of equipment modifications and repairs
 - Practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
 
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong educational foundation and relevant work experience in aviation or a related field. The minimum qualifications for this position include:
- A Bachelor's degree in Aviation/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask, analyze complex data, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
 - Related experience with turbine engine design and repair, fleet management, engine flight hour/cycle agreements, knowledge of airline flight operations and support networks, and FAR 145 repair operations is highly desirable
 - It is also desirable for candidates to have completed Delta Airframe or Engine Introductory Training Course and be Line Maintenance qualified (internal candidates only)
 - A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency is required
