Job Summary

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Head Start Teacher Assistant to support our educational team at one of our four elementary sites: Drager, Addison, Hudson, or Michener. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of our students. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the unique needs of each child
  • Support teachers in observing and providing feedback on children's progress and development
  • Assist with the execution of lesson plans and activities that promote learning and engagement
  • Observe and document children's activities and interactions to inform instruction and support individualized planning
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to health, nutrition, and education
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and community partners
  • Support the recruitment and enrollment of eligible children and families to ensure continuous full enrollment
  • Adhere to program policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and quality

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or willingness to obtain within two years of hire
  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive relationships with colleagues and families
  • Basic math skills and ability to apply mathematical concepts in a practical setting
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret program policies and procedures
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely in accordance with program policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience with Creative Curriculum or other early childhood education programs
  • Knowledge of current research and theory in early childhood education
  • Ability to apply knowledge of child development and learning theories in a practical setting
  • Experience with data entry and record-keeping preferred
