Job Overview

The String Project Teacher will play a vital role in teaching students, preparing lesson plans, and collaborating with teachers and Master Teachers in planning sessions. This is an exceptional opportunity for a current or incoming WSU student pursuing a degree in Stringed Instrument Music Education to gain valuable experience and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young musicians. As a pooled position, applicants will be selected from the pool as positions become available, and the pool will expire after a period of time, with applicants being notified accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach students in a supportive and engaging environment, fostering their musical growth and development
  • Prepare comprehensive lesson plans, tailored to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels and learning styles
  • Recruit students for the String Project, promoting the program and its benefits to potential participants
  • Collaborate with teachers and Master Teachers in planning sessions, sharing best practices and expertise to enhance the overall quality of the program

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Be a current or incoming WSU student as of fall semester, 2019, pursuing a degree in Stringed Instrument Music Education
  • Have no prior experience necessary, although private teaching experience is highly desirable
  • Demonstrate performance ability on an orchestral string instrument at a level sufficient to have been accepted into the degree program

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Background in music education or a related field
