About Our Company and the Role
Life Skills Autism Academy is a specialized center where our experienced team delivers high-quality ABA therapy to children with autism. As a Center-Based Behavior Technician, you'll play a vital role in our mission by providing one-on-one and group therapy sessions, implementing behavioral skill acquisition and reduction protocols, and collaborating with our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to drive client progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings, utilizing intensive teaching and natural environment training methods.
- Implement prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client individualized treatment plans.
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior to inform treatment decisions.
- Assist with parent and caregiver training, ensuring they are equipped to support client progress.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, adhering to established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, as instructed by BCBAs.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Assist BCBAs in preparing client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition programs.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or willingness to complete a 40-hour training course and sit for the RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation and, in some cases, a valid driver's license and car insurance.
- Ability to physically perform the demands of the job, including getting down on the floor, standing up multiple times, lifting up to 50lbs, and running/moving quickly when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Cultural competency, flexibility, and open-mindedness.
- Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, as well as a TB test if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following experiences and skills can enhance your application:
- Previous experience as a Behavioral Technician or in a related field (e.g., Teacher's Aid, Tutor, CNA, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide).
- Experience working with children with autism or other learning disabilities.
