Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to students with special needs, including those with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities
 - Assist teachers and other support staff in delivering program services, adapting to the needs of individual students
 - Help students with daily living activities, such as feeding, toileting, and mobility
 - Implement de-escalation and crisis management techniques to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
 - Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized support plans for students
 - Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral interventions and support strategies
 - Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff
 - Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
 
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Possess a high school diploma; a two-year Associate's Degree or higher is preferred
 - Have personal knowledge and work experience with school-aged children and children with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities
 - Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work interactively with students and staff
 - Be sensitive to students from diverse cultural backgrounds and have patience with students learning a second language
 - Possess good English communication skills; bilingual ability is a plus
 - Be able to stand and sit for long periods, bend, stretch, and lift 40 pounds, with corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous training in de-escalation and crisis management techniques, with related job experience
 - Experience supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system
 - The ability to pass a highly qualified assessment
