Med Surg Units at Fairview Hospital
Our Experienced Nurse Units are comprised of several medical-surgical units, each with its unique focus and patient population. These units include:
- 5 Pavilion Medical Surgical- Generalized
- 5 North Medical Surgical - Generalized
- 2 South/ North Medical Surgical- Generalized
- 6 North/ South Medical Surgical- Generalized
- Parkview Terrace (PKT) Medical Surgical Stroke Unit & Epilepsy Care
- Parkview 1 (PK1) Medical Surgical, Oncology
- Parkview 2 (PK2) Medical Surgical, Cardiology
- Parkview 3 (PK3) Post-op Surgical & Orthopedics
As a New Grad RN in our Med Surg Units, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced nurses and healthcare professionals who are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
As a New Grad RN in our Med Surg Units, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in a residency core curriculum tailored to your individual learning needs
- Providing direct nursing care alongside a coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
- Establishing and revising priorities for patient care activities based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability
- Initiating and maintaining interventions to ensure continuity of safe and effective care for patients
- Responding to data indicating risk to individual health and initiating action to correct, reduce, or prevent the risk
- Seeking supervision, consultation, and assistance when needed
- Complying with hospital and department personnel policies
- Using effective communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes
- Documenting in patient's medical record according to established guidelines
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Possess current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Be willing to obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through AHA if working in the Emergency Department
- Meet the physical demands of the job, including handling and lifting patients, standing, and walking for extended periods
Preferred qualifications include:
- BSN degree
- Cancer-specific certification or willingness to obtain within the timeframe of the facility's accreditation cycle if working in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center, or cancer clinic
