Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Part Time Evening Remote MD Addiction Counselor to join our team at Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health. As a Remote Addiction Counselor, you will be an integral part of our innovative, inter-disciplinary team, working collaboratively to provide exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities

  • Work Monday through Friday from 4:30pm to 8:30pm remotely, with rotating Saturday shifts from 9:00am to 12:00pm for Virtual Group Sessions
  • Develop and maintain a treatment alliance with patients, ensuring a mutual, collaborative, and individualized approach to meet changing clinical needs throughout treatment
  • Facilitate addiction treatment groups in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program (OP) levels of care
  • Prepare and present addiction and recovery education presentations to patients, promoting a comprehensive understanding of the recovery process
  • Engage in case management sessions, including assessments, collaborative treatment goals, discharge planning, and partnerships with referral sources and other providers
  • Promote the organization's image in a positive and professional manner, upholding our commitment to excellence in patient care
  • Provide direct care up to 55% of weekly work hours, depending on program and position requirements
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to address co-occurring psychiatric needs of patients, ensuring comprehensive care
  • Coordinate care with support services, including referral sources, family members, and other support providers, to ensure seamless transitions and optimal outcomes
  • Maintain timely and well-written documentation, adhering to state and CARF standards, to ensure accurate and comprehensive patient records
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent patient care, measured through clinical outcomes such as patient retention, attendance, successful program completion, and treatment goal attainment
  • Obtain signatures from licensed therapists or supervisors for documents requiring a second signature, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct evaluations for substance use disorders using DSM-V and ASAM level of care criteria, providing accurate assessments and recommendations for treatment
  • Participate in on-call rotations, supporting patients in crisis outside of business hours, and providing timely and effective interventions
  • Embody the spirit of a teacher, promoting positive energy and addiction recovery education, both in and out of group and individual sessions
  • Attend and actively participate in professional meetings, including treatment team meetings, to ensure collaboration and coordination of care
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare environment

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, in a relevant field such as counseling, psychology, or social work
  • Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills, with the ability to engage patients and promote accountability
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in the substance use disorder (SUD) field, with group treatment experience preferred
  • Experience and comfort working with electronic medical records, with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records
  • Knowledgeable and well-versed in various recovery modalities, including SMART Recovery, Women for Sobriety, 12-Step, Recovery Dharma, Harm Reduction, and other evidence-based approaches
  • Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to work in a program that will grow and expand over the next several years, with a commitment to adaptability and innovation

Preferred Qualifications

  • ADT for Addiction Counselor Trainee, CSC-AD for Addiction Counselor I, CAC-AD, LGADC, LGPC, LMSW, LCADC, LCSW, and LCSW-C in Maryland, or other relevant licensures or certifications
  • Experience working with patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders, with a strong understanding of the complexities and challenges associated with these conditions
  • Strong understanding of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with the ability to apply these approaches in a flexible and adaptive manner
  • Trauma-informed care approaches and experience working with patients who have experienced trauma, with a commitment to providing safe and supportive care
