About the Role
The Information Researcher - RWE will be responsible for conducting sophisticated data analysis to address critical business questions and drive meaningful insights. Reporting to the Chief, Clinical Information Science, this role is a vital part of Walgreens' efforts to harness the power of data and analytics to inform healthcare decisions and improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Insights Generation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data sources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape research methodologies.
 - Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with various members of the Walgreens Clinical Trial colleagues to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial solicitations.
 - Data Management and Quality: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization, ensuring high-quality, thorough, and promptly interpretable outputs from RWE studies and analyses.
 - Advanced Analytics and Research: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/RWD and uncover new insights into patient populations and treatment outcomes, supporting the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities.
 - Dashboard Development and Reporting: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external use, driving informed decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
 - Diligence and Quality Assessment: Conduct a reasonable level of effort on new real-world data suppliers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions.
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience in Statistical Analysis and Research: A background in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.
 - Knowledge of Statistical Testing Methods: Familiarity with common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, clustering and partitioning, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time-series analysis, and survival analysis.
 - Experience with Large Datasets: A proven track record of handling large datasets from various data sources and working with protected patient health information.
 - Business Intelligence Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI insight tools.
 
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
To stand out as a candidate, you will ideally have:
- Advanced Degree: A PhD or graduate degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
 - EMR/Health IT Experience: Skill in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases, as well as clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies.
 - Regulatory Compliance: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials.
 - Innovative Data Collection Methods: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and/or arrangements.
 - Advanced Analytical Techniques: Familiarity with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics, as well as a comprehension of statistics and machine learning techniques.
