Position Overview
As an Assistant Professor of Statistics, you will be expected to maintain an excellent research program that leads to publication and presentation in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets. You will also have the opportunity to secure extramural funding, teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, and supervise graduate students. Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Professor of Statistics, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining an active research program in statistics, data science, or biostatistics
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, including introductory and advanced courses
- Supervising and mentoring graduate students, including master's and Ph.D. students
- Participating in departmental and university service, including committee work and advising
- Contributing to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field prior to the start date
- A strong research record and potential for publication and presentation in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets
- Excellent teaching skills and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education
- The ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience with statistical computing and programming languages, such as R, Python, or MATLAB
- Familiarity with data science and machine learning techniques
- Experience with grant writing and extramural funding
- A strong record of mentoring and supervising students
