Key Responsibilities
- Assist instructors in operating laboratory classes, including setting up equipment and materials
- Organize, maintain, and control inventory of lab supplies and equipment
- Prepare lab experiments and demonstrations under the guidance of instructors or senior lab personnel
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices
- Maintain lab equipment by cleaning and performing basic repairs, and contacting supervisors for more complicated repairs
- Provide clerical assistance for lab maintenance and attendance purposes
- Assist students with using lab software and equipment, as needed
Essential Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
- 1 year of experience in an educational lab setting or related area preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and web page applications
- Ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds
- Organizational skills to receive, organize, maintain, test, and set up lab equipment, materials, or hardware supplies
- Familiarity with an academic lab setup, configuration, and testing of related equipment
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with educational software and technology
- Certification in laboratory safety or related field
