Key Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of special education and general education teachers to provide instructional support and accommodations to students with diverse needs.
 - Escort students to and from classes, lunch, and bus, ensuring their safety and well-being.
 - Provide support to students with disabilities within the general education classroom, including re-teaching, providing instruction as directed by a teacher, and supporting testing.
 - Supervise students during lunch and recess, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
 - Lift up to and over 65 pounds, as needed, to support students with physical needs.
 - Perform other duties as assigned to support the program, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting student privacy.
 
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
 - Demonstrate academic skills at a level to successfully assist students with elementary instructional materials.
 - Be able to work with a moderate to high degree of mental and physical demands due to students' needs.
 - Be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
 - Possess skills to manage behaviors (verbal and physical) presented by students.
 - Be willing to seek additional training and obtain necessary certifications.
 - Exhibit good verbal and written communication skills.
 - Be able to respect and maintain confidentiality of information and student privacy.
 - Demonstrate good attendance and support towards organizational goals and efforts.
 - Possess a high level of flexibility and problem-solving skills.
 - Have training in, or be willing to obtain training in, nonviolent crisis intervention.
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with students with diverse needs.
 - Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
 - Certification in special education or a related field.
 - Bilingual or multilingual skills.
