Job Summary

As a Special Education Teacher - RSP at Montclair Elementary, you will work with students with special needs, providing individualized instruction, support, and accommodations to help them access the general education curriculum. You will collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement IEPs, assess student progress, and provide progress monitoring data. Our goal is to empower students with special needs to become active participants in their educational journey, build confidence, and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with general education teachers, support staff, and families.
  • Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to students with special needs, to help them access the general education curriculum.
  • Assess student progress, collect data, and provide progress monitoring reports to IEP teams.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement inclusive practices, accommodations, and modifications.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and progress monitoring meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEPs, and instructional plans.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, training, and coaching to enhance teaching practices and stay current on best practices in special education.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in special education.
  • Eligibility for employment in the US and pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or commitment to weekly testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in special education or related field.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly in an RSP setting.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and differentiated instruction.
  • Experience with progress monitoring, data collection, and IEP development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
