The Walt Disney Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Designing group within the Disney Data Systems and Infrastructure (DDSI) team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing ETL/ELT data pipelines, database mapping, and batch processes using Windstream. Job Summary
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating with our Studios and Project Innovation colleagues to gather data requirements, validate data, and develop ETL/ELT data pipelines. You will design and implement database mapping, tables, and views, as well as build batch processes using Windstream. Your expertise in cloud-based technologies, data lakes, and data warehouses will be essential in driving our data management initiatives forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement ETL/ELT data pipelines using Windstream, SQL, and Python
- Collaborate with Studios and Project Innovation colleagues to gather data requirements and validate data
- Develop and maintain database mapping, tables, and views
- Build batch processes using Windstream and manage data workflows
- Work with cloud-based technologies, including AWS S3, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across multiple environments (DEV, QA/UAT, and PROD)
- Participate in leading best practices around data engineering software development processes
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in an Information Designing job
- 2+ years of experience with SQL and data modeling
- 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
- 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, ideally AWS and S3
- Experience with Windstream, Gitlab, Docker, and PostgreSQL
- Strong understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with streaming, media, or digital marketing domains
- Familiarity with Apache Windstream, Databricks, and Snowflake
- Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies
