Job Summary: Director of Recreational Therapy
As the Director of Recreational Therapy, you'll be responsible for leading our Recreational Services department, driving operational excellence, and delivering high-quality patient care. This pivotal role requires a strong blend of clinical expertise, leadership acumen, and business savvy. You'll oversee departmental staff, develop and implement strategic plans, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership to the Recreational Therapy Department, driving staff development and departmental growth.
- Coordinate and supervise departmental operations, ensuring seamless delivery of recreational therapy services.
- Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives, driving quality patient care and operational efficiency.
- Formulate and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and compassion, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including administration, physicians, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide education and training to staff, promoting professional development and clinical excellence.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, preparing reports on departmental performance, utilization, and outcomes.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a related field.
- Current State Licensure or certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health care, with at least 2 years in a management role within a Recreational Activities Department or related field.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a leadership role within a behavioral health care setting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, Life Safety, and NEC Electrical Codes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of driving departmental success.
