Job Summary
As a Special Education Teacher at SRA, you'll play a critical role in shaping the academic experiences of our students. You'll develop and execute high-level lesson plans, lead intervention and remediation classes, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure the success of scholars with special needs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement SRA's Special Education curricula, aligning with our mission and goals
 - Teach four periods (two double periods) each day, providing rigorous instruction and grade-level content
 - Implement classroom routines and operational procedures to foster a positive and affirming school culture
 - Provide frequent and accurate academic and behavioral feedback to scholars
 - Participate in weekly collaboration, coaching, and professional development to maximize your impact
 - Communicate weekly with families and collect and analyze scholar achievement data to inform instruction
 - Collaborate with special education teachers and Deans to provide accommodations for scholars with special needs
 - Step in as a teacher leader on ad hoc tasks and projects to support and build a strong school environment
 
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- An appropriate content/program area (Moderate Disabilities) and grade-level educator license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
 - Unwavering high expectations for all scholars and a belief in their potential for academic success
 - Positivity, enthusiasm, and a passion for urban public schools
 - Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
 - Ability to lead a classroom where excellence is expected and cultivated for all scholars
 - Capacity and passion to grow every day based on data and feedback from coaches and peers
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum two years of urban teaching experience
 - Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written)
 - Proficiency in technological tools, including Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drive, and other online teaching tools

Compensation and Benefits
SEZP offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $55,467 to $88,006. You'll also be eligible for:
- A $2,500-$10,000 relocation award for candidates from regions beyond western Massachusetts
 - A $5,000 signing bonus
 - $1,000+ extended day stipend
 - $2,000-$12,000 extended year stipends
 - Benefits, including sick days, retirement, and health insurance, offered to Springfield Public Schools teachers
