About the Role
As a Teacher Assistant/SPED, you will play a vital role in supporting our certified staff in delivering high-quality instruction to students with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified staff in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives, freeing them to focus on curriculum development and other critical tasks.
- Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning, implement assigned programs, and maximize inclusion.
- Assist with classroom preparations, record-keeping, and behavioral management to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Supervise students in non-instructional areas, such as lunch programs, bus duty, and playground duty.
- Accompany students on field trips and assist with parent contact as requested.
- Construct, copy, and distribute educational materials as needed.
- Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team.
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living to maximize their participation in school or learning activities.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college-level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Prior experience working with special needs children is desirable.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Proficiency in using personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
