As a Data Engineer - Data Ventures, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the data pipelines that fuel our retail technology.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Ventures team, where you'll work on developing and implementing complex data transformations, refining raw data into targeted and meaningful resources, and collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to drive business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Transformation and Integration: Extract data from identified databases, create data pipelines, and transform data into a relevant format using appropriate techniques.
  • Data Source Identification: Support the understanding of business requirements and identify the most suitable data sources to meet those needs.
  • Data Modeling: Analyze complex data elements, systems, data flows, and relationships to contribute to applied, physical, and logical data models.
  • Code Development and Testing: Write code to develop required solutions and application features, determine appropriate programming languages, and test code using suitable testing approaches.
  • Applied Business Acumen: Provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business problems and develop business cases for projects with a potential return on investment.
  • Data Governance: Establish, modify, and document data governance tasks and recommendations, and implement data governance practices in association with business stakeholders and partners.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrate modern ability and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans, and build relationships and networks with key stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology)
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Cloud, Python/PySpark, and Java
  • Experience with distributed computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure)
  • Skilled in data modeling and data migration protocols
  • Experience with GCP, data warehousing, and BI tools
  • Experience with integration tools like Automic, Informatica PowerCenter (formerly known as Informatica PowerCenter and WindStream)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Data bricks
  • Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB and RDBMS like MySQL, Postgres
  • Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka
  • Ability to improve the efficiency of the team by fixing cycles of software development, requirement admission, and effort assessment

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a combination of technical, business, and soft skills, including:

  • Strong programming skills in languages like Python, Java, and Scala
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
