Key Responsibilities: Guiding Our Mission with Leadership and Expertise

  • Strategic Leadership: Attend quarterly Board meetings (virtual or in-person) to provide strategic guidance and oversight, ensuring our programs and services align with our mission and goals.
  • Committee Participation: Engage actively in at least one committee, contributing your expertise and perspectives to drive our initiatives forward.
  • Annual Commitment: Make an annual gift aligned with your means, demonstrating your commitment to our cause and supporting our efforts to secure the resources needed to advance our mission.
  • Fundraising and Community Engagement: Leverage your network and skills to support our fundraising efforts and promote PEAL's work within your community.

Ideal Candidate Profile: A Passionate Advocate with a Strong Background

We're looking for individuals who not only share our commitment to serving children and youth with disabilities but also bring a wealth of experience and skills to the table. Our ideal candidates will have:

  • A Strong Commitment to Our Mission: A deep understanding of and passion for the issues affecting children and youth with disabilities, including those with complex health care needs.
  • Relevant Experience: Personal or professional experience related to disability, complex health care needs, or advocacy work. Experience as a family member of a child with a disability is highly valued.
  • Advocacy and Leadership Skills: Proven ability to advocate effectively for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, and experience in leadership roles where you've guided teams or organizations towards achieving their goals.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: A passion for promoting racial and disability justice, and a commitment to creating inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: A willingness to collaborate with others, providing diverse perspectives and insights to inform our work and drive our mission forward.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as social work, education, healthcare, or a related discipline).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or advocacy role, preferably within the non-profit sector or in a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience serving on a non-profit Board or in a governance role.
  • A background in fundraising or development, with a proven track record of securing funding for non-profit organizations.
