About the Role
This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere, while still being an integral part of our dynamic educational community. As an Agricultural and Welding Teacher, you'll be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our high school students. Your expertise will not only be limited to teaching the curriculum but also extend to preparing students for various welding certifications, thereby enhancing their employability and career prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards for agricultural and welding courses.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Manage student behavior and ensure adherence to safety protocols within the classroom and shop settings.
- Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the broader community to promote a collaborative learning environment.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in agricultural and welding education to continually enhance the curriculum and teaching methods.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet one of the following educational and certification requirements:
- Option 1: Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and possess a valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
- Option 2: Have an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution, coupled with two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation relevant to the classes you'll be teaching.
- Option 3: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, along with five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation relevant to the classes you'll be teaching.
Additionally, you must have:
- A valid Texas Driver's License and the ability to drive district vehicles and haul trailers.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in the safe handling and use of commercial and non-commercial power tools.
- The ability to create engaging, interactive projects that promote student learning and participation.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:
- Experience in the agriculture industry and familiarity with the FFA (Future Farmers of America) organization.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Meeting NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Craft Instructor Requirements.
- A minimum of 4 years of work experience at a journey level or licensed technician level in a welding-related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in teaching welding or other maintenance-related training.
