About the Role: Special Education Substitute Teacher

We're excited to announce an opening for an Experienced Special Education Substitute Teacher to join our team in Denver, CO. Key Responsibilities

  • Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students.
  • Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, catering to the diverse needs of special education students.
  • Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable insights for the regular teacher.
  • Exercise classroom and behavior management skills to create a conducive learning environment.
  • Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting a collaborative approach to education.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
  • Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if your license is expired).
  • Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
  • Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (for Substitute Authorization).

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications can enhance your application:

  • Experience in special education, particularly in working with students with diverse needs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
