As a Youth Leader, you will work under the direction of the Site Coordinator, Principal, and Program Director to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for students. This is a remote opportunity, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and facilitate engaging academic and enrichment activities and lessons for groups of approximately 20 students.
- Serve as a positive adult role model, demonstrating appropriate dress, speech, work ethic, and attitude.
- Record and maintain daily attendance and other required documentation.
- Ensure classrooms and program spaces are clean, organized, and safe.
- Utilize positive behavior and classroom management techniques to promote a productive and respectful environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, school personnel, and community partners.
- Attend and actively participate in required staff development workshops, meetings, and trainings.
- Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment, and physical activity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six months of experience working with children aged 5-14.
- Advanced education (AA degree or 48 college semester units) or pass a formal Pasadena Unified School District academic assessment.
- Possession of current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certificates or obtain within 60 calendar days from the date of hire.
- Pass a Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
- Current TB Test.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:
- Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to influence and motivate others.
- Capacity to work cooperatively and collaboratively with program staff, parents, and the community.
- Proficiency in Standard English, suitable for a public school setting.
