Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Transcription Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Transcription Functions:
  • Transcribe medical and related information from physician's notes and dictation with accuracy and efficiency
  • Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to ensure accurate documentation
  • Confer with pathologists to clarify unclear terminology or other questionable information
• General Clerical Functions:
  • Pull slides and blocks for patient referral, clinician referral, and diagnostic testing
  • File surgical slides and blocks
  • Scan reference lab reports, physician orders, and documents into patient records
  • Retrieve slides for tumor board conferences
  • Pull monthly pathology department statistics
  • Facilitate surgical slides to pathologists
  • Accession surgical specimens as needed
  • Perform various clerical duties as required

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Excellent listening skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
