About the Merit Skills Program
The Merit Skills Program is a unique opportunity for military veterans and their families to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to transition into civilian careers. The program consists of eight weekly webinars, each focusing on a specific aspect of career development, including resume building, business communication, presentation skills, interview skills, and salary negotiation. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the opportunity to apply for fellowship opportunities at Merit and other partner companies, which may lead to full-time employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality training sessions to program participants, focusing on key elements of transitioning into a civilian career
- Develop and maintain relationships with program participants, providing guidance and support throughout the program
- Collaborate with the Merit team to ensure the program is meeting its objectives and making a positive impact on participants' lives
- Identify and develop new opportunities for program growth and expansion, including partnerships with other organizations and companies
- Participate in ongoing evaluation and improvement of the program, ensuring it remains relevant and effective in meeting the needs of military veterans and their families
Essential Qualifications
- Experience working with military veterans and their families, preferably in a career development or transition capacity
- Strong knowledge of career development principles and practices, including resume building, interview skills, and salary negotiation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with program participants and stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with a strong ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of the Merit platform and its applications, or experience working with similar technology
- Experience working in a team environment, with a strong ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and develop creative solutions to complex problems
- Experience working with diverse populations, including military veterans and their families, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
