Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Online Adjunct Instructor to support exceptional children and families in our Early Childhood Education program. This is an exciting remote opportunity with an immediate start, requiring a strong and diverse skillset to drive success. As an Online Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for communicating with students, supervising Deans or other University staff, and teaching courses that emphasize cultural influences and resources for supporting families. You will explore the history and contemporary issues of special education legislation as it pertains to the inclusive classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate both verbally and in writing with students regarding feedback on student performance on a consistent basis throughout the course
- Be available for students via phone, email, and for individual appointments as needed for questions and academic assistance
- Respond to Dean/University staff in regards to performance, student issues/concerns, or items needed for faculty file/accreditation needs in a timely manner
- Demonstrate mastery and ability to articulate and relate to students in the field of Early Childhood Education
- Play an integral role in the development and implementation of curriculum and assessment for their area of expertise
- Attend events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as agreed upon and/or designated by the Dean
- Complete a minimum of six (6) Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually or two (2) REUs per quarter for each quarter you teach (whichever is less) between the combined areas of Teaching Development and Development in the Discipline on an annual basis
Essential Qualifications
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred or related field such as Early Childhood Studies, Special Education (Early Childhood or Pre-K), Elementary Education (Birth-3rd grade or equivalent ages), Early Childhood Leadership or Administration, Education (ECE Professional Studies or Curriculum and Instruction), Child Psychology, Child and Family Studies, Child Development
- 2+ years experience with children ages birth-3rd grade in a developmentally appropriate environment
- Knowledge and experience with NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and standards such as professional development, mentoring, or training
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with students, leadership, and peers
- Excellent written communication and strong verbal communication skills in the English language
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience preferred (Minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of study)
- Experience with online teaching and learning platforms
- Knowledge of special education legislation and inclusive classroom practices
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment
