About the position
Responsibilities
• Serve as the liaison between medical staff, outpatient pharmacies, insurance providers, and patients to improve communication and continuity of care.
• Review patient demographics, medication history, and insurance status to identify economic barriers and opportunities for navigating the prescription cycle.
• Improve patient service experience through the provision of benefits investigations.
• Develop a thorough understanding of payer reimbursement and patterns for pharmacy benefits with third parties.
• Facilitate access to prescription claims utilizing pharmacy benefits, including formulary/coverage issues and patient assistance program eligibility.
• Coordinate services with appropriate departments regarding patients who may qualify for available resources for paying for medications.
• Interact with Texas Oncology clinic employees and external contacts to educate on accessing prescriptions for patients.
• Work in a constant state of urgency, compassion, and attention to detail.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
• Willing to consider mid-level experience.
