External/ Mobile Crisis Therapist
                                Job Scope: The primary goal of this position is to provide mobile behavioral health services including
evaluation, crisis intervention, referral, transportation, follow-up and/or treatment from referrals through the 988
regional call center for central Maryland. Our Mobile Response Team operates in the Central Maryland region
and services both adolescents and adults across the life span. Each Team includes a Mental Health Clinician
and a Peer Recovery Specialist. Performance is reviewed through employee supervision, evaluations, and client
records. In order to achieve this goal, the following duties are expected:
• Provide a full range of crisis stabilization services and support to clients with a variety of behavior
health symptoms
• Conduct behavioral health assessments for individuals in crisis in central Maryland area
• Perform psychiatric evaluation with referred clients
• In collaboration with a peer recovery specialist, provide appropriate crisis intervention, supportive
counseling and de-escalation of clients as needed.
• Provide transportation to emergency rooms, shelters, or outpatient clinics when deemed appropriate
from the assessment
• Refer clients to outpatient facilities through the open access clinics in Behavioral Health Link.
• Refer client to crisis stabilization units through the bed registry in Behavioral Health Link.
• Conduct follow-up services within 72 hours.
• Work with adolescent family systems.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation of all clinical and client-related information
• Demonstrated proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office
• Attend MCRSS training when available in Maryland.
Educational/ Position Requirements: Master’s degree in psychology, social work or a related field, from an
accredited college or university. Candidates must have applicable Maryland State License (LMSW, LGPC,
LCSW, LCSW-C, or LCPC). Candidates bi-lingual speaking fluently in Spanish and English, preferred.
Applicant must have a valid MD Driver’s License.
Required Experience: Minimum of two years of post-graduate experience working with individuals in the
public behavioral health system is preferable.
Physical Demands/Work Conditions/Hazards: Moderate walking, standing, climbing stairs, and sitting
required. Light lifting may be needed. Transporting of clients and their belongings in agency vehicle may
require minimal support and assistance depending on client needs. Will visit clients in various community
settings (homes, hospitals, businesses, and streets). Office work is in a well-lit and ventilated
environment. Potential exposure to highly charged, stressful and emotional situations with the
potential exposure to aggressive encounters.
