About the Role

As a Senior Manager, Engineering - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), you will be responsible for leading the strategy, design, and implementation of our VDI solutions, ensuring they are highly performant, efficient, and scalable. You will work closely with our engineering teams to develop and maintain cutting-edge VDI platforms, leveraging technologies such as VMware Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our insurance business transformation, as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech-driven organization with a strong focus on engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of technical roadmaps for VDI solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and engineering excellence.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify project dependencies, negotiate delivery dates, and ensure timely project completion.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, presenting detailed solutions and alternatives to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our technical infrastructure, including cloud computing technologies, metadata management tools, and application monitoring tools.
  • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative solutions to enhance our VDI platforms and improve customer experience.
  • Cultivate a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to team members, promoting growth and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, cost leadership, and customer experience enhancements.

Essential Qualifications

  • 6+ years of coding experience in languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
  • 5+ years of development experience in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supervising personnel in a technical environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing, including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies, including VMware Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies, including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
  • Proficiency in project management and work item management tools such as Azure DevOps and Portfolio.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with metadata management tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and prototype development.
  • Experience with digital experimentation and web analytics data analysis.
  • Fluency with modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with open-source software and contribution to open-source projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and WebEx.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this role is $115,000 - $261,500, depending on factors such as experience, education, and location. In addition to competitive compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
