As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting our cloud systems and deployment suite, working in a DevOps culture and team to engineer, design, develop, implement, and maintain new and emerging technology platforms.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our team, responsible for assessing cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, implementing automation tools and processes for automated code deployment (CI/CD), and working with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Assess cloud services and architecture to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, ends, or approaches to problems
- Implement automation tools and processes for automated code deployment (CI/CD)
- Work with the development team to deploy and manage tools that support SDLC automation, configuration management, and release management
- Understand technical models with automation to support complex delivery across a wide range of digital and enterprise applications
- Lead the design, development, and expansion of cloud infrastructure
- Establish or maintain methods and standards to ensure high-quality and quantity of work
- Establish or follow prioritization processes to drive work with a sense of urgency about getting work done
- Communicate with stakeholders to determine requirements and solutions that address business challenges and opportunities
- Act as an informed authority in cloud infrastructure, performing design reviews and consulting with teams to ensure design best practices
- Maintain business continuity and disaster recovery processes
- May perform other work duties as directed by Supervisor's Managers
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in cloud computing, DevOps practices, and automation. The following qualifications and skills are essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Knowledge of AWS Framework as a Service, automation tools like CloudFormation
- Ability to understand AWS process, data sources, security technologies
- Proficiency in AWS cloud networking resources (VPC, Internet Gateway, Security Groups, NACLs, NAT Gateway)
- Knowledge of infrastructure as-code (IAC) and development tools
- Skilled in deployment strategies involving Docker for containerization
- Ability to understand the monitoring and management of the build and deployment processes and infrastructure
- Ability to investigate services to ensure security best practices are followed
- Ability to mentor and guide colleagues' learning, including introducing novel ideas and technologies
- Ability to anticipate business needs and lead a team towards identifying and solving cross-functional issues
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
In addition to the essential qualifications and skills, the following are preferred:
- Experience with automated testing solutions for unit testing, integration testing, and system testing
- Engineering experience of Cloud Networking between Cloud Providers, third-party Vendors, and On-Premise Organizations
- Skilled engineering expertise with deep knowledge in configuration of Enterprise DNS (Route 53), Internet Gateway, and Hosted Zones
- Knowledge of network troubleshooting
- Knowledge of AWS firewall implementation as a review point (central ingress/egress analysis)
- Experience managing and maintaining multiple AWS accounts and dividing resources among them (Route53 resolver shares)
- Proficiency in building and maintaining GitOps pipelines using different platforms
- Knowledge of implementing AWS PrivateLink End Point Services preferred
- Knowledge of Cloud WAN strategy and implementation preferred
- Experience working with Hybrid Connectivity and Palo Alto NextGen Firewalls (NGFW) preferred
- Knowledge of DirectConnect and BGP routing preferred
