The Team: Collaborative and Innovative
The auto underwriting ML team is the heartbeat of our auto loan product, responsible for researching and building the models that evaluate the risk of every applicant. As a Staff Research Scientist, you'll be part of this talented team, working alongside Research Scientists, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and other specialized roles. As a Staff Research Scientist, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the development of production-ready machine learning models that power our auto lending product. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a talented team that values curiosity, humility, drive, and teamwork. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of auto lending, and you'll have the opportunity to:
- Design, develop, and deploy high-impact machine learning models that drive business growth

What We're Looking For: Expertise and Passion
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A strong academic background in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field (Master's degree; Ph.D. preferred)
- 4-5+ years of experience in autonomous research and development of high-impact production models
- Full-stack expertise in machine learning, with proficiency in Python and experience with productionalizing code
- Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning concepts, and engineering architecture
- Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A strong sense of intellectual curiosity, humility, drive, and teamwork

The anticipated base salary for this position is between $169,900-$235,000 USD, depending on location and experience. We also offer target bonuses, equity compensation, and a generous benefits package.
