Job Summary
The Student Account Specialist will provide a variety of support tasks for the University's student account services, including assisting with processing receivables and loans, collection and reconciliation, record keeping and correspondence, and front-line cashiering and customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Perform cashiering duties, including receiving funds, writing receipts, balancing cash drawer, and other related tasks.
- Respond to customer inquiries and requests, providing exceptional customer service to students, parents, and employees.
- Issue staff, student, and faculty permits, and coordinate with Campus Veterans Center personnel to provide information required for certification of Post 911 GI Bill contract payments.
- Verify financial aid disbursement, work closely with the financial aid office regarding disbursements, refunds, short-term loans, book vouchers, and other related tasks.
- Assist with collection and reconciliation, maintenance of Bursar holds on student records system and paper records, and review and process requests for Breakage Deposit refunds.
- Assist with processing and entry of short-term loans, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of related experience in a similar environment.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience working in a higher education environment, preferably in a student accounts or bursar's office.
- Familiarity with student information systems and financial aid processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
