The Abbott family, a dynamic duo of a doctor and a nurse, is seeking a reliable and trustworthy Summer Sitter to care for their three grade school aged kids. As a Summer Sitter, you will have the opportunity to engage with the kids, plan fun activities, and provide a safe and nurturing environment while the parents are away.

About the Abbott Family

The Abbott family is a loving and active family who values spending quality time together. Dan, the father, is a doctor, and Emily, the mother, is a nurse who works part-time. They are looking for someone who can provide care and support for their three kids during the summer months. The family enjoys outdoor activities, such as swimming, biking, and going to parks, and is looking for someone who shares their enthusiasm for these activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for the three grade school aged kids for 2-3 days a week, with a minimum of 20-24 hours per week
  • Engage the kids in fun and educational activities, such as swimming, biking, and outdoor games
  • Prepare simple meals and snacks for the kids
  • Assist the kids with chores and packing for the upcoming weekend
  • Occasionally fold kids' laundry and help with household tasks
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for the kids
  • Communicate effectively with the parents regarding the kids' daily activities, meals, and any issues that may arise
  • Be flexible with scheduling and available to work occasional date nights or events

Essential Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a childcare or babysitting capacity
  • Good driving record and ability to transport the kids to activities (if needed)
  • Ability to cook simple meals and snacks
  • Kind, empathetic, energetic, patient, and engaging personality
  • Reliable and dependable with great communication and organizational skills
  • Able to set good boundaries with the kids and provide a safe and structured environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with grade school aged kids
  • Ability to plan fun and engaging activities, such as outdoor games, arts, and crafts
  • Knowledge of child development and ability to provide age-appropriate activities
  • First aid and CPR certification (not required but preferred)

What We Offer

The Abbott family is offering a competitive hourly wage of $16-$22 per hour, based on previous experience. The schedule is flexible, with a minimum of 2 days a week from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. The family is open to discussing the days of the week and can work with you to accommodate your needs. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working with children and develop your skills as a caregiver.
