Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Quantitative Analysis and Modeling Expert at United Airlines, you will play a critical role in driving business growth through data-driven insights and solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing methodologies and strategies to define and solve complex business problems using quantitative analysis and scientific models
  • Identifying, investigating, and solving large-scale complex issues using big data, statistics, forecasting, and AI principles
  • Applying business process understanding to identify and implement metrics, forecasting, and AI solutions that drive significant bottom-line contributions
  • Building and developing metrics, forecasting, and AI model applications, and providing client support using operations research data
  • Participating in model design, development, and deployment for multiple projects, and collaborating with product delivery teams
  • Escalating concerns when the scope of analysis may not align with available time, and selecting an appropriate scope of investigation to optimize return on investment
  • Working effectively with stakeholders to gather data and insights, and identifying solution quality risks and on-time delivery challenges
  • Communicating complex results to management and clients, and developing compelling stories to summarize findings
  • Creating and delivering presentations aligned with AI standards, and staying up-to-date with the latest scientific methods and analysis in the fields of statistics, forecasting, AI, and analytics

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate education (PhD or ABD) in a quantitative discipline, such as statistics, mathematics, or computer science
  • Coursework or work experience with statistics, forecasting methods, and model prototyping using statistical packages like SAS, SPSS, Minitab, or BI tools
  • Proficiency in programming languages like C, C++, Java, R, Python, or other structured programming languages
  • Excellent business, technical, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt to changing business environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
  • Successful completion of an interview to assess job capabilities
  • Strong, reliable participation, with a fundamental capability for teamwork
  • Authorization to work in the US for any employer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minor in computer science or formal advanced computer science coursework
  • Years of professional experience in the analytical field
