Job Overview

As a Lead Data Engineer at blithequark, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing our data products and warehouses, focusing on Commitment and Maintenance Analysis and Data Science. Your expertise will be crucial in crafting scalable data warehousing solutions and building ETL pipelines in complex, large data environments - whether cloud, on-prem, or hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of our Data Products and Data Warehouses, focusing on Commitment and Maintenance Analysis and Data Science.
  • Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in large data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) using technologies like Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Flink, and Wind stream.
  • Help engineer data solutions/structures and define data models for our critical data warehouse and data marts.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Modelers, and Data Architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and governance.
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and uphold our commitment to clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams).
  • Be an active participant and advocate for agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team.

Essential Qualifications

To excel as a Lead Data Engineer at blithequark, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to craft queries that extract insights and build performant datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems like Flink, Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) for querying and processing data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java/Scala.
  • Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query).
  • Strong background in data integration toolsets (e.g., Wind current) and writing and maintaining Data Pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of Data Modeling methodologies and Data Warehousing best practices.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, having experience with Cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2) is highly desirable.
