Job Summary
As a Cloud Engineer III, you will be responsible for the design, build, deployment, integration, and management of private, public, and/or hybrid cloud platform services supporting the development of complex applications at enterprise scale. You will work closely with architects, leads, and peer engineering teams to ensure deployed services meet the highest levels of scalability, reliability, and performance while balancing security, maintainability, reliability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Infrastructure Development: Develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure, primarily Azure, to support complex applications at enterprise scale.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Application Architects, Leads, Cloud Infrastructure Architects, and other stakeholders to build infrastructure for applications and integrations following FedEx Platform Guidelines and Principles.
- AGILE Process: Participate in AGILE process to plan, design, build, and ensure infrastructure is available and ready for software engineers in a timely manner.
- Cloud-Based Applications: Ensure cloud-based applications and services run efficiently, securely, and reliably.
- Monitoring and Alerting: Collaborate with FedEx Reliability team to monitor and alert for application infrastructure and software components efficiently.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize infrastructure performance, cost, and scalability.
- Problem-Solving: Provide guidance to Leads and Engineers with solutions to problems that may arise during the SDLC.
- Cloud Operations: Automate cloud operations to streamline deployment, scaling, and other repetitive tasks using Infrastructure as Code.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation on cloud infrastructure, share best practices.
- Security: Implement security policies for cloud environments, monitor for vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance.
Essential Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
Experience
Three to four (3-4) years' experience in cloud engineering or related field. Experience providing leadership in a general planning or consulting setting. Some experience as a leader or a senior member of multi-function project teams.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Azure Cloud Platform: Experience with Azure cloud platform.
- Networking: Demonstrable understanding of the 7 layers of the OSI Network Model.
- System Administration: Conversant in system administration skills and tasks that a well-rounded technologist may need to perform.
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Programming Languages: Experience with one or more programming languages.
- Automation and Scripting: Automation and scripting in Powershell and Bash.
- DevOps and CICD Pipelines: Experience with DevOps and CICD pipelines, specifically Terraform.
- Kubernetes: Kubernetes experience either with AKS or managing your own Kubernetes cluster.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
- Leadership Experience: Experience providing leadership in a general planning or consulting setting.
- Large-Scale Projects: Experience in completing difficult projects, e.g., programming projects, system admin, large deployment, or migration projects.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

- Competitive salary: $104,960 to $157,440 per year.
