Key Responsibilities
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated, developing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Prepare for classes assigned, showing written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal, and employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to engage students.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Strive to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and action.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies, promoting a safe and supportive school community.
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, cooperating with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Accept a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned, contributing to the overall educational experience of our students.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress.
- Provide for professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning.
- Participate as a member in the Professional Learning Community, collaborating with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must possess or be eligible to possess a Delaware teaching license and be certified in Secondary Science. Dual certification is preferred but not required. Our ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a strong background in science education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to student-centered learning.
Essential Qualifications:
- Delaware teaching license and Secondary Science certification.
- Strong knowledge of science curriculum and instructional methods.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dual certification in science and another subject area.
- Experience with hybrid or remote teaching arrangements.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
