About the Program

The Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE) summer program is a four-week course designed for high school students interested in learning about sustainable energy technologies and the field of engineering. The program covers a range of fundamental topics, including energy generation, transmission, distribution, and storage, as well as hands-on lab experiments and group data analysis. Our team is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that inspires students to explore the possibilities of sustainable energy.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teaching efforts of the Instructor and Teaching Fellow in delivering the SEE summer program
  • Assist with preparing course materials, organizing hands-on project/lab supplies, and grading homework and other activities
  • Provide detailed feedback to students on their assignments and projects
  • Hold study sessions to assist students and enhance their understanding of lectures, labs, assignments, and projects
  • Ensure that child safety protocols are upheld and maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards students
  • Participate in pre-course training and be available during the entire course

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of Trigonometry, Algebra 2, and Physics
  • Availability to work from July 3 to July 28, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for engineering and education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of general engineering principles
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Experience with Zoom or similar video conferencing software
