About the Role

As a Tutor Advisor, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support services to students in need of academic intervention, focusing on grades 6-8. You'll work closely with certified teachers to ensure students receive the guidance they need to succeed. This position requires a strong foundation in education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring to students as scheduled, ensuring they receive personalized support outside of regular classroom instruction.
  • Assist with classroom management, including organizing instructional materials and maintaining a supportive learning environment.
  • Compile and maintain accurate student records, tracking attendance, testing results, progress, and other relevant factors.
  • Offer information, materials, and instructional support to classroom instructors, enhancing the overall educational experience.
  • Conduct parent involvement activities, including phone calls, written communication, and home visits to foster active participation in students' education.
  • Coordinate parent/family school functions, promoting a sense of community and cooperation between home and school.
  • Attend meetings and parent conferences, providing valuable insights and facilitating communication between students, parents, and school administration.
  • Provide support in library or media center settings, expanding your role in the educational ecosystem.
  • Conduct progress monitoring assessments and maintain accurate records, helping to identify areas where students need additional support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the team's success.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 48 semester credits (two years) of study at an institution of higher education, an associate's degree, or a rigorous standard of quality, as well as the ability to demonstrate knowledge of and assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to function as a team member and interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • The capacity to carry out and evaluate student achievement under the guidance of a teacher.
  • Adequate instructional technology skills, ensuring you're equipped to support modern educational needs.
  • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds in an instructional setting, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Preferred Qualifications
