Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Online Security Architect to join our team, responsible for developing and maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) Tokenization products, ensuring the security and compliance of our payment systems. This role will also support authentication libraries and validation libraries used by our application development teams to integrate with our enterprise authentication and authorization services. As a Senior Online Security Architect, you will be a key player in driving the future of cybersecurity at Southwest Airlines, working on information security, authentication, and authorization software used across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security guidance to application and partner teams to remediate security vulnerabilities, risk items, and policy exceptions
 - Deliver training to users on the use of key online security systems and automated tools
 - Identify cybersecurity issues, design solutions, recommend software and systems, and guide improvements in a precise manner to meet business requirements
 - Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and advocate for IT Security standards and reference architectures
 - Guide both colleagues in cybersecurity and partner teams, ensuring the implementation of best practices and industry standards
 - Stay up-to-date with industry trends and develop business cases for changes, driving innovation and improvement in our cybersecurity practices
 - Lead teams to find the best solutions, demonstrating impression leadership while ideating and testing group thinking
 - Administer prompt response and maintenance to production program issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance
 - Collaborate with production testers to identify defects and complete testing, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products
 - Perform other work duties as directed by management, contributing to the overall success of the organization
 
Essential Qualifications
- Preferred experience in security-related software, including authentication, authorization, TLS, network segmentation (e.g., AWS NACLs, route tables, security groups, Kubernetes network policies)
 - Skilled in Agile methodologies and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivering high-quality software products
 - Proficient in at least one cloud computing technology and its concepts, such as AWS, with experience in infrastructure as-code (IaC) development and automated configuration management
 - Talented in implementing cybersecurity-specific integration tests, providing identity, security policy, and cryptography
 - Experienced in using monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, ELK Stack, AppD, and their integration into platform tools like AWS CloudWatch
 - Knowledgeable in at least one secrets management tool and solution, such as AWS Secrets Manager, CyberArk, or Hashicorp Vault
 - Skilled in creating defined build jobs for continuous integration of security and environmental factors
 - Familiarity with at least one existing component in the value pipeline, such as PingFederate, eDirectory, Active Directory, CyberArk, or Micro Focus IDM
 - Proficient in at least two scripting and development languages, such as Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, and Lua
 - Knowledge of Secure Proxy and/or API Gateway – Envoy Proxy, F5 APM, PingAccess, Layer 7 API Gateway, AWS API Gateway
 - Experienced in authorization, such as XACML, OPA (Open Policy Agent), or Cedar
 - Skilled in distributed systems, such as REST, gRPC, SOAP, and CORBA
 - Knowledgeable in data security, including PCI tokenization, pseudonymization, x.509 certificates, and mutual TLS
 - Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with a strong ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks
 - Familiarity with industry-recognized security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS
 - Knowledge of cloud security architecture and design principles, with experience in securing cloud-based systems and applications
 - Experience with cybersecurity threat intelligence and incident response, with a strong understanding of threat analysis and mitigation techniques
