Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for designing and building data systems at scale. As a key member of our Product Execution and Instrumentation team, you will contribute to the engineering, design, and development of our data products and pipelines using Scala, Python, and Flash. Your expertise will help us drive business value, improve data quality, and enhance customer experiences across our brands and digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable data solutions, building ETL pipelines in big data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) using AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Windstream, Flash, and languages such as Scala, Python, SQL, and Java.
  • Contribute to the engineering, design, and development of our data products and pipelines in Scala and Python/Flash while maintaining uptime SLAs.
  • Collaborate with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and Data Engineers to design, implement, and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Implement the Lakehouse architecture, working with key partners to move towards a Lakehouse-driven data platform.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality and data governance.
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support our clients (Data Science, Data Analytics teams).
  • Be an active participant and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure safety and process improvements for your team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Engage with and understand our clients, forming relationships that enable us to understand and prioritize both innovative new contributions and steady platform upgrades.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong algorithmic problem-solving skills and solid SQL abilities.
  • Proficiency in distributed systems, such as Flash and PySpark, to query and process data.
  • Strong Scala and Python programming skills.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2).
  • Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (ideally Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with data integration toolsets (e.g., Windstream) and writing and maintaining data pipelines with Databricks.
  • Experience in data modeling techniques and data warehousing standard approaches and practices.
  • Knowledge of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data engineering tools like Databricks, Snowflake, and Windstream.
  • Familiarity with Lakehouse architecture and data platform design.
  • Experience with data governance and data quality management.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
