Job Overview

The Customer Sales Executive – blithequark Protein Business will play a critical role in developing and executing our digital commerce strategy for the blithequark Protein business. This is a remote position that requires a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in sales, marketing, and digital commerce. The successful candidate will be responsible for balancing strategic direction, customer relationship management, and digital marketing expertise to drive sales, share, and profit results.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Customer Sales Executive – blithequark Protein Business include:

  • Developing and executing short, mid, and long-term growth strategies to develop the blithequark Protein business partnership with Amazon
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including brand, supply chain, operations, and IS managers, to ensure successful integration and leverage of campaigns, media, pack type, seasons, and new product programs
  • Coordinating, executing, and leading activities with virtually every function in the company to achieve pre-set goals, including portfolio management, innovation, and capability building
  • Leading and directing the activities of outside suppliers, including content and ad agencies
  • Developing and presenting strategic roadmaps and recommendations to senior management, both internally and externally
  • Working closely with Protein leadership to align sales forecasts and ensure the business has the right level of brand and marketing support
  • Traveling to customers and supporting conversations/negotiations with buying teams, guiding and participating in discussions for JBP and long-term strategic growth
  • Educating the organization on the strategic importance of eCommerce and trends/developments within this rapidly evolving channel
  • Using available data and insights to provide sound merchandising, marketing, promotional, and product optimization recommendations (prescriptive selling)
  • Owning the planning and execution of merchandising, marketing, promotional, and content plans, crafted in close collaboration with brand/season, digital, shopper marketing, and sales teams
  • Co-owning relationships with content development/creative agencies, ensuring creative content is optimized, impactful, and compliant with brand messaging
  • Establishing business reporting/KPIs to ensure progress against objectives and communicating back to the organization
  • Closely collaborating with IS, Digital Marketing, Insights, and Shopper Marketing teams to leverage insights and digital expertise to execute current year plans and build capabilities to advise and evolve customer relationships
  • Owning the eCommerce P&L for the assigned portfolio, currently including Amazon.com, 3P, Prime Pantry, Amazon Fresh/Prime Now, Amazon Business, Amazon Go, Amazon Grocery, Fresh Pick Up, and Whole Foods

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous sales experience with direct management of a customer/retailer relationship, with Amazon experience preferred but open to translatable experience
  • Demonstrated P&L management with strong business judgment and decision-making skills, ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate high-impact initiatives
  • Experience directly managing customers, including strengths in advising and negotiating
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
  • Excellent management skills, with the ability to delegate and manage multiple priorities while generating positive relationships
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience managing digital customers, media, and creative development, SEO, and eCommerce merchandising preferred but open to translatable experience
  • Proven ability to translate insights into sound merchandising, marketing, promotional, and product optimization recommendations (prescriptive selling)
  • Superb communication skills, including strong oral and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and interact at all levels
  • Aptitude for problem-solving/quick learning
  • Positive attitude and high level of energy

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • MBA or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of experience managing a P&L or digital commerce business, with a CPG background preferred
  • Experience working in a remote environment
  • Strong understanding of digital commerce trends and technologies
  • Experience with data analysis and insights-driven decision making
