As a Data Scientist on the Scientific Affairs team, you'll play a key role in producing Real-World Evidence (RWE) through advanced analysis and innovative approaches in the clinical trials space. Your contributions will be valued, and you'll be rewarded with a competitive compensation package starting at $26/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data sources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and inform research strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests.
  • Clean, transform, and store data in an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization.
  • Perform data mining and statistical analysis to uncover new insights into patient populations and treatment outcomes.
  • Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address scientific questions from biopharmaceutical companies.
  • Co-develop study designs and execution plans for outcomes research studies.
  • Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and interpretable outputs from RWE studies and analyses.
  • Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external use.
  • Conduct due diligence on new real-world data suppliers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.
  • Knowledge of common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, clustering and partitioning, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time-series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Experience handling large datasets from multiple data sources.
  • Experience handling protected patient health information.
  • Familiarity with at least one Business Intelligence (BI) tool, such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or Spotfire.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

To take your application to the next level, consider the following preferred qualifications:

  • A PhD or graduate degree in a relevant field, such as statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
  • Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode).
  • Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
  • Experience working with alternative data sources and methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and/or arrangements.
  • Familiarity with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, longitudinal data, and computational statistics.
  • A strong understanding of statistics and machine learning techniques, with a commitment to ongoing self-learning of technical and non-technical skills.
