Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Sales Associate to join our team in Muncie, IN. As a Sales Associate, you will act as the point of contact for customers, assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, stock merchandise adequately, and perform other duties as necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork, while protecting company assets. Key Responsibilities

  • Unload trucks and receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes, storing merchandise in the stock room or moving it directly to the sales floor
  • Build merchandise displays and stock merchandise, rotating and facing merchandise on shelves to maintain a visually appealing store environment
  • Restock recovered merchandise and assist customers by locating merchandise and answering questions
  • Bail cardboard, take out trash, dust and mop store floors, clean the restroom and stockroom, and perform other tasks as necessary to maintain a clean and safe store environment
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety policies and practices
  • Greet customers, operate the cash register and flatbed scanner, and collect payment from customers, making change as needed
  • Assist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners, as needed, and clean the front end of the store and help set up sidewalk displays when necessary

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and colleagues
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices, with the ability to comply with company procedures and maintain a safe working environment
  • Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance, with attention to detail and a focus on maintaining a visually appealing store environment
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures, with the ability to operate a cash register and handle customer transactions accurately
  • Basic mathematical skills, with the ability to perform calculations and handle customer transactions accurately
  • Ability to perform IBM cash register functions, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology and systems

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on education and career development
  • Previous retail experience, with a focus on customer service and sales
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds, and frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling
