About the Role

As a Director of Operational Risk Management – Learning, Development & Communications, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and execution of our firm's operational risk training initiatives. Reporting into the Operational Risk Project Lead, you'll lead a team responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive learning programs to enhance our organization's risk management capabilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and executing against a strategic learning and development roadmap aligned with Amex's operational risk management objectives and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

* Play a lead role in developing and executing against a strategic learning and development roadmap aligned with Amex's operational risk management objectives and regulatory requirements * Create innovative and engaging training content, including e-learning modules, workshops, simulations, and experiential learning opportunities * Collaborate with subject matter experts and key stakeholders across the organization to identify learning needs and prioritize training initiatives * Drive the delivery of training programs globally, ensuring consistency in content, quality, and effectiveness * Evaluate the impact of training interventions through metrics and analytics, refining programs to drive performance improvement * Incorporate relevant insights into learning initiatives from industry practices, emerging trends, and regulatory developments in operational risk management * Serve as a thought leader and advocate for a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the BlueBox, promoting learning and professional development * Support audits and exams as needed

Qualifications

* Extensive experience in learning and development within the financial services industry, specific expertise in operational risk management preferred * Strong understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel III, Dodd-Frank Act, MiFID II, etc.) * Experience designing and delivering training programs for diverse audiences, including front-office staff, risk professionals, and senior executives * Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across organizational levels * Demonstrated ability to drive change and innovation, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance learning outcomes * Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, able to balance short-term priorities with long-term objectives * Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, CFA) and membership in professional associations (e.g., GARP, PRMIA) are a plus
