Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Counsel to join our team in California. This is a remote work opportunity that offers a reduced schedule and a competitive salary. As a Counsel with our firm, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of labor and employment law matters, including single-plaintiff employment lawsuits, administrative charges, and client counseling. You will be responsible for leading and managing cases, developing defense strategies, and providing litigation recommendations to clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Handle single-plaintiff employment lawsuits from start to finish with minimal oversight, including drafting responsive pleadings, handling discovery, and attending arbitration and mediation
  • Develop and implement defense strategies for clients, including drafting motions and briefs, and negotiating settlements
  • Work directly with clients and firm partners to foster strong relationships and provide excellent client service
  • Manage and litigate administrative charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, and representing clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits
  • Collaborate with other lawyers and staff to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in labor and employment law and apply this knowledge to client matters

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably on the defense side
  • Admission to the California state bar
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience handling single-plaintiff employment lawsuits from start to finish with minimal oversight
  • Top law firm experience and a strong reputation in the legal community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance
  • Knowledge of California labor and employment laws, including the California Labor Code and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act
  • Experience with alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration
  • Strong business development skills and the ability to attract and retain clients

Skills and Competencies

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. You should be able to think critically and strategically, and have a strong attention to detail. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously. Compensation and Benefits
