As a Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor, you will be part of a team that is passionate about delivering high-quality education and research, and we are excited about the prospect of having you join our ranks. **Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor in Modern European History to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a 36-week, term appointment (two academic semesters), with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching six courses (three per semester), including History of Western Civilization, Modern Europe, and the World War II era. In addition to teaching, you will be expected to contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to promote the values of our institution. **Responsibilities** * Teach six courses (three per semester) in Modern European History, including History of Western Civilization, Modern Europe, and the World War II era * Develop and deliver engaging and effective teaching experiences that promote student learning and success * Contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promote the values of our institution * Participate in resident and normal university service, including committee work and departmental meetings * Develop and maintain a strong research agenda, with a focus on Modern European History * Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum changes and innovations * Participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion **Essential Qualifications** * Master's degree or higher in History or a related field at the time of appointment * Proven teaching experience, with a focus on Modern European History * Strong research agenda, with a focus on Modern European History * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators * Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to advancing the values of our institution **Preferred Qualifications** * Ph.D. in History or a related field * Teaching experience at the university level, with a focus on Modern European History * Research experience, with a focus on Modern European History * Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment * Familiarity with curriculum development and implementation **Skills and Competencies** * Strong teaching and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students * Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and maintain a strong research agenda * Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and administrators * Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to advancing the values of our institution * Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor at Penn State, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your career in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
