Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Lab/Teaching Assistants to join our team at Weber State University. As a Lab/Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the labs used for student training in the department, assisting with the preparation of media and reagent use in the labs, and helping with the maintenance of lab equipment. You will also assist instructors in training students by reviewing course information and teaching lab skills to students. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the labs used for student training in the department, ensuring they are clean, organized, and well-equipped.
  • Assist with the preparation of media and reagent use in the labs, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Help with the maintenance of lab equipment, performing routine checks and ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Assist instructors in training students by reviewing course information and teaching lab skills to students.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student engagement and success.
  • Collaborate with instructors and other lab staff to ensure seamless lab operations and student support.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in medical laboratory sciences.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) program at Weber State University.
  • Acceptance into the MLS program.
  • Ability to work 5-20 hours per week, with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
  • Completion of 1-2 semesters of MLS Laboratory sections.
  • Experience working with various types of lab equipment and analyzers.

  • Background in medical laboratory sciences or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a teaching or research environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, instructors, and other lab staff.
