**Job Description**
**Job Title:** Writing Fellowship Program Coordinator
**Department:** Academic Success
**Supervisor:** Tammy Tebo
**Schedule:** 10 hours per week
**Position Level:** Non-Supervisory (Minimum Wage)
**General Statement of Duties:**
As a Writing Fellow, you will provide academic assistance to students enrolled in English courses at Worcester State University. You will work closely with faculty and students to improve their English skills, including but not limited to writing, reading, and critical thinking. Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Serving as a role model for new students by displaying the responsibility and maturity of a continuing student
* Communicating with relevant faculty for specific courses to know course expectations, relevant assignments, and course materials
* Attending all relevant training and workshops related to tutoring
* Meeting with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support
* Assisting students with reading comprehension, writing skills, and language proficiency
* Providing feedback on assignments and helping students understand and implement instructor feedback
* Maintaining accurate and complete records of student progress
* Attending training sessions and meetings required
**Requirements:**
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong academic background in English, Literature, or a related field
* Previous tutoring or teaching experience preferred
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
* Excellent editing, oral, and written communication skills
* Maintain a reliable attendance record
* Basic computer skills, including general knowledge of all Microsoft Office
* Must be free of any current/pending judicial action by the University
* Have a reference from an instructor that taught the course
