Job Description

We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled Full Stack Machine Learning ASIC Design Engineering Lead to join our team in California, USA. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing advanced AI-powered chips for Google's cloud infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Set technical directions for the team within the scope of technical lead and individual contributor.
  • Engage with AI Framework Planners and Software groups to define specifications and implement machine learning using Etch, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
  • Engage with Check and Silicon Approval groups to ensure the functionality of the design.
  • Perform power, area, and performance compromises of advanced designs and architectures.
  • Apply design best practices (e.g., code review, testing, refactoring) to the design and execution of ASIC blocks.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A four-year college education in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience with ASIC design.
  • Experience with RTL (Verilog) and chip configuration streams.
  • Experience leading or driving a team.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be a plus:

  • A graduate degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accelerators (e.g., AI or GPUs) or similar high-performance architectures.
  • Understanding of computer architecture/memory subsystem design.
  • Understanding of power/performance/area compromises.

About the Role

Our computational challenges are so large, complex, and unique that we can't simply buy off-the-shelf equipment; we must design and build it ourselves. As an ASIC Design Engineering Lead, you'll work with a team of experts to design and develop the equipment, software, and systems that power Google's services. You'll create from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work can shape the hardware that goes into our state-of-the-art data centers, impacting millions of Google users.
